M. Salas is a Mexican artist. A Renaissance artist by vocation, she has rebelled against the common logic that dictates that artists should dedicate themselves to developing only one expression of art, that is, to creating from a unidirectional perspective. Inspired by the spirit of the Renaissance, she rejects the orthodoxy and logic that dictates that the artist should focus on a single discipline. With her eyes fixed on the complexity of polymathy, she has set her sights on the kind of artist she has decided to be: a Renaissance artist who challenges disciplinary boundaries and creates a significant cultural impact through a combination of technical, intellectual and emotional skills. Being a Renaissance artist in this century implies embodying a spirit of versatility, curiosity and boundless creativity, characteristics that defined the artists of the original Renaissance. M. Salas is a polymath who has been satiated by erudition, through a wide spectrum of knowledge and art. Attached to the Renaissance ideal of Homo Universalis, she has dedicated herself to exploring different areas of knowledge and art, delving into political science, political philosophy, legal theory, the history of political philosophy, professional literature, the founding of a publishing company, dance, the creation of electronic music, the cinema, photography and abstract painting. Inspired by the spirit of the Renaissance, she has opened herself to the exploration of new and varied paths in the search for an ideal model of an artist who is capable of expressing her talent through different creative resources.
This work of abstract painting, totally unpublished and presented for the first time to the public through this space, has been developed during eight years of creative searching, aimed at achieving a collection that prioritizes the transmission of emotions in a direct and profound way, focusing on the subtle connection, through the use of transparencies and textures, which create rhythm, emphasis and meaning. Each stroke is a dialogue between the visible and the hidden, between reality and dream. The use of different ranges of colour in this series of paintings is aimed at providing chromatic balance and warmth, in the context of a complete freedom of the strokes. The emotion is deposited in harmony and balance, as well as in the use of mixed materials and in the execution. This series, worked on over years of patience, creates an aesthetic language of enormous meaning and artistic value.
Likewise, the magnificent series of unpublished photographs presented through this space, make M. Salas a seeker of languages, an alchemist of emotions, where there are no borders. Her photography is a mirror where the human essence is reflected under different lights.
The journey of this artist is not a straight line, but a mosaic of paths that intertwine and expand. And in each one of them, she continues searching, exploring, creating.
