Landscape in rupture

2017
Mixed media on canvas
100 x 80 cm

The painting presents an abstract composition where the multicoloured geometric figures evoke a visual landscape that, although not tangible in its form, transmits the sensation of a full and transforming space. The predominant colours – vibrant yellows, deep greens, warm ochres and greys – intertwine and overlap in a back and forth of tones that suggest an organic nature.
The yellow, in its various gradations, infuses a warm and radiant light that seems to emanate from the background, creating an atmosphere of luminosity that gives life to the geometric elements. The green, on the other hand, elevates the composition with its freshness, while the ochre, with its earthy and warm tone, introduces a sensation of solidity and permanence
On the other hand, what gives character and uniqueness to the painting are the dark strokes that rise above the multicoloured geometry. These strokes, like abstract figures, interrupt the uniformity of the composition with their firm and determined presence. In contrast to the fluidity of the bright colours, the dark strokes bring a dimension of depth and contrast, generating a sense of tension that challenges the serenity of the geometric forms. Their thickness and direction, often sinuous or angular, appear irregular, as if they were an element that has broken into the chromatic order of the work, imbuing the painting with a hidden narrative, an untold story that floats above the visual surface.
These dark strokes are not only a compositional element, but they serve a symbolic function: they represent a disruptive force or a vestige of something deeper, something that resists being tamed by geometry and the structure of colour. The contrast between the softness of the warm colours and the solidity of the dark strokes not only creates visual tension, but also imbues the painting with a palpable energy, as if the very nature of the work were in constant dialogue between light and darkness, order and chaos.
