Ethereal

2020
Acrylic on canvas
50 X 60 cm

This painting, with immaculate clarity, is a visual meditation on absence and presence. The canvas inhabits an ethereal surface that suggests the fragility of a landscape suspended in the stillness of whiteness. The trees, sketched with subtle strokes, seem to emerge from the same mist that envelops the scene, stripped of defining details, as if they were shadows of what once was or could be. The delicate transience of the work is accentuated by the monochromatic palette, where clarity is not a void, but a space full of possibilities, charged with silences and a stillness that invites introspection.
The composition, with its slight grey marks, not only delimits the figure of the tree but, at the same time, fuses it with the surrounding landscape. The soft, almost imperceptible strokes seem to dematerialize in the air, merging with the atmosphere. The work, in its austerity, does not seek to impose form, but to suggest an almost intangible representation of the natural world. This reduced palette, together with the transparency of the forms, speaks of the ephemeral and intangible, of fleetingness, of that which is barely perceived. The painting thus becomes a sensorial experience, rather than an explicit representation, inviting the viewer to enter into a space of contemplation and reflection on that which escapes sight, but which is perceived with the soul.
