A trace in the steppe

2016
Acrylic on canvas
80 X 80 cm

This painting offers a composition in which the geometric structure becomes the means to evoke the figure of a horse, although in a blurred, suggested and barely recognizable way. The work unfolds through shades of dry greens, browns and light colors, creating a warm and earthy atmosphere, but also contained in its delicacy. The chromatic and subtle palette is presented as a unit that invites calm and deep contemplation, without the contrasts that usually define more explicit representations.
The straight lines and soft curves create a sense of contained dynamism, almost as if the figure of the horse were suspended in the air, in a state of anticipatory stillness. The rectangular and curved shapes seem to dialogue with each other, building a solid but ethereal presence, as if the animal were imprisoned in the canvas.
The dry green tones, with their muted nuances, bring an earthy and organic quality, evoking nature and the horse's environment, but also imbuing the work with a sense of calm and composure. These greens are combined with browns and light colours, which reinforce an atmosphere of natural balance, without stridency or excess saturation.
This painting does not seek an explicit representation, but rather an emotional and sensorial interpretation of the horse, an evocation that is framed within the world of abstraction. The work invites us to explore a visual space, where the viewer can experience an emotional charge contained within the serenity of colours and shapes.
